Why the Rebrand?

Welcome to my new blog!

Where have I been?

For those of you who have been following me for some time now will know that I used to blog about film and TV. You will also know that I haven’t been active for over a year. What happened? Well… life happened. I graduated from University and then got a job working on lots of different films and TV shows (more about this on my about page). If you’re familiar with this industry you’ll know that the hours are relentless and it leaves little time for your personal life. Which I’m not complaining about because working on some of the things I have, has been so rewarding and I wouldn’t change any of it. I’ve been very lucky!

Since early 2019 I’ve been working on Emmerdale full time but because of COVID-19 (and I apologise for bringing it up), all filming was suspended. What have I been doing? Like the rest of you, I’ve been stuck at home trying to keep myself busy and sane. What lockdown did teach me though, was that I need to make time for the things I love doing. I don’t think I’ve picked up a camera since I started working on Emmerdale and I LOVE photography. No matter how busy I get with work or how much life takes over, I need to make time to get out there with my camera because it’s one of my favourite feelings in life.

I also realised that I missed blogging. I missed the connections, the people, and the enjoyment I get when I hit that publish button. I knew I didn’t want to start blogging about film and TV again. I wanted something new. A change. This is where Folksy comes in. Whilst I’m furloughed from work and don’t know when I’ll be back, I’m taking the time to push my photography. I’ve opened up a prints shop on Folksy.com and I’m selling all kinds of prints and canvases. Check it out here: https://folksy.com/shops/KatieMaiProductions

So… Why the rebrand?

If you’ve made it this far, congratulations! I can’t believe you’ve stuck it out through my gibberish. So why the rebrand? I used to be able to sit and watch TV or films all day and write about them. I can’t do that anymore. I hate sitting still. I also hate films. I really do. They’re all terrible these days. TV is way better but that’s a debate for another day. I need to be busy and I struggle to get into films because I’m more interested in something on my phone.

Because I now hate watching films, writing about them just wasn’t fun anymore. And when you don’t enjoy doing something, it just feels like a massive chore. It got to the point where I dreaded writing a blog post because it meant I had to watch something and I knew I wouldn’t enjoy watching whatever I chose. So here I am now, rebranding my whole blog and writing about the things I love. Photography and traveling!
